1. Find vintage friendly foundational pieces. This means look in your closet for classic articles of clothing. For example, wide-legged jeans, a high waisted pants or a really nice pencil skirt these are all foundational pieces that work great with vintage finds.
2. Accessorize! Pair vintage pieces with vintage jewelry to really bring that Mad Men era into the now. I like to mix and match vintage and modern accessories to create a look that is completely me.
3. Pick the right shoes! As you know shoes are very important to me. Depending on how intricate your vintage pieces you might want to keep the shoes very classic like a pair of black pumps are nude pumps to something more dramatic like a colorful pair of Mary Jane’s or wedges.
In this picture I paired a 60’s print shirt I found at the GoodWill with H&M high waisted peg leg pants, red Ann Taylor blazer, nude BCBG pumps, gold Michael Kors belt and gold and pear vintage earrings. This is one of my favorite looks to date.
As you play around and get more confident with incorporating vintage pieces into your everyday wear, keep in mind to expand and try new ways to wear your vintage. Have fun because that’s what fashion is about in my book.
